Hello and welcome. It becomes an article which is GREATLY needed. A minimum of I believe that it is. I began wearing makeup around age 14 and whenever I began, it was actually a bad shade for my complexion. So! I am looking to speak out for the Beautiful, Brown-Skinned Black Women that have as hard an occasion finding makeup while i do. So, i want to provide you with a little background on me.
First of all, Black is beautiful, along with the darker the berry the sweeter the juice! That being said, at 14 I used to be a bit blackberry with no clue. When I first started wearing make-up it had been just lipstick plus it started being my mom’s Fashion Fair. My mother who seems to be light-skinned and contains a daughter who seems to be dark-skinned. Obviously her lipstick did NOT match whatsoever. I used to be even known as dark-skinned Ronald McDonald with a previous ex-boyfriend!
So, I think that us brown-skinned and dark-skinned women need some extra help as it is more difficult for all of us to find makeup that matches in drugstores, or makeup on dark skin that may be affordable. Plus Cosmo and Glamour and every one of them continually be discussing great makeup for spring, but uh, hello have you forget black girls like makeup for spring too? So, I feel your pain. I am just a self-appointed makeup aficionado, and would want to offer my experiences as well as some items that are FABO rather than so much fabo. So… without further ado, let’s get started!
JUST AN FYI: These are all make-ups that we experienced to utilize through experimentation and so i am sharing from EXPERIENCE!
FACE: I fight to find the best foundation, and full-coverage makeup that is certainly affordable so here are a few wonderful finds that I have realized which are both.
1-Cover Girl Queen Collection Natural Hue Liquid Foundation- Spicy Brown
PROS- it can be good at matching skin tones who have yellow or red undertones, spreads easily and when you simply need moderate coverage gives you an effective value for your money. It is affordable ranging about 6-8 bucks, and you could believe it is in many drugstores, and food markets.
CONS- If you have dark spots and blemishes, this will NOT offer you the coverage you want! Not close, okay? Furthermore, it wears off quickly so you would need to reapply often. The bottle is upside down with some spout, if you pour out too much, you can not place it back in the bottle as well as in these times of economic crisis er’ bit counts am I right ladies?!
Also, if you have troubles matching the skin tone because you have BOTH yellow and red, or even blue and red undertones, this collection may not be for yourself because there is not much of a vast selection from which to choose, so you might should go forward. Other shades that are ideal for brown-skinned to dark-skinned gals, and several people fellas! Rich Mink, Sheer Espresso, and True Ebony.
2- Cover Girl Queen Collection Natural Hue Compact Foundation
PROS-It will give you more coverage in comparison to the Liquid Foundation. That’s it. That’s about all I could think of.
CONS-Unfortunately, it rubs off QUITE quickly. It is also tinted slightly differently than the liquid foundation therefore i found it harder to match my complexion. Also, whenever it was warm outside it wipes RIGHT off, and revealed every blemish on my face! LOL, furthermore, it wipes off on your clothes, stains your hands, the complete bit. It’s moderately priced at the same time, so in order to look nice for the date through the night, going somewhere cool, it’s a brief fix, having said that i wouldn’t use it for the club, or even a carnival, anywhere that will be warm, or sweaty. It can be purchased in exactly the same.
3- Black Opal True Color Liquid Foundation – Black Walnut
PROS-Awesome Coverage. There is quite a bit within the bottle therefore it will last you a significant while. It is really an upright standing bottle having a generous opening, if you pour out an excessive amount of, it won’t be too hard to acquire back into the bottle, so you can SAVE, SAVE, SAVE! I wear foundation every single day, sometimes wash my face and re-apply if going out that night, and this bottle lasts me regarding a good 2 months roughly. You will see that it ranges from about 8-12 bucks… dependant upon your geographical area. Therefore it is an incredible buy.
CONS- For those who have combination to oily skin, WEAR POWDER, and keep it along with you! Throughout these upcoming warm to hot days, you might look really greasy in the face. But if you retain Blotters together with you, or powders, you ought to be okay. Also, it could just be that MY skin changes, therefore if that is the situation disregard, but I find that after i go to buy a new one, the shade may well not match just like the previous one, so be mindful of the.
Another con is Black Opal Products might be a little harder to get in shops than other products that I mention. I don’t determine it’s that they’re not that popular, or what, but whenever I look I usually see them in both Rite-Aid, or CVS. So, happy hunting. Other colors beneficial to brown-skinned girls… Carob, Suede Mocha, and Ebony Brown….. And for you borderline caramel to brown-skin girls, Hazelnut!
4-Maybelline Pure Make-Up (Shine Free Foundation with H2O) – Cocoa (Dark 3)
PROS- Very inexpensive, easy to find. Situated in Most drugstores, supermarkets, Wal-Mart. Costs range about 5.99-10 bucks, based on your region. Full coverage, doesn’t clog your pores, spreads easily.
CONS-Upside-down tube, so you will need to be exact about how precisely much is required for your personal face, cause when you use a lot of… it will be wasted. Limited colors for darker skin color. They simply have THREE shades for ladies of our own color. Dark 1- Tan, Dark 2- Caramel, and Dark 3-Cocoa. I have got used the Cocoa. It is too dark for my skin-tone.
However, the Caramel Dark 2 is simply too light. So, when you are pressed for the money and don’t have the cash to experiment, I wouldn’t waste my time on this product. They have FIVE shades devoted to light, FOUR for medium and just three for people like us darkies??!!! Leave this product alone, except if you eventually match EXACTLY. Good luck evading the lady who attempts to watch you when you make an effort to sample the merchandise from the store!
5- Black Radiance Color Perfect Oil Free Liquid Make-Up- Cocoa Bean
PROS-Very reasonable! VERY! Somewhat accessible. Costs about 5.99-10 bucks, and you will discover it in a number of Beauty Supply stores, CVS carries it. Spreads evenly, good coverage, get a great deal for the buck. Also, comes in a jar with the open spout, so when you have an excessive amount of, you may use it way back in there. Will give you a good matte finish.
CONS- Cocoa Bean fails to match my skin! Having Said That I also provide strange undertones happening with my skin, so that may be why it is actually so hard to match. If you apply this makeup it dries a different color, it’s crazy. There’s this… weird… applicator thingy, uncertain how to deal with it, but it got in my way basically. Says it will work for all skin types, having said that i have very sensitive skin on my own face, and that i learned that within thirty minutes my face was suffocating and I required to wash it well. Other shades to try out are Brownie and Mocha Honey.
6- L’Oreal True Match Super Blendable Makeup- Nut Brown
PROS-Oh my goodness you guys this makeup was awesome! Spread really, really good! Matches wonderfully to get a yellow undertone. Truly does a brown-skinned girl justice. Light, so your skin can breathe. Good coverage for girls with blemishes. Pretty readily accessible, and i also point out that with hesitance, because 7 times out from 10 they will likely carry all Although the shades for brown-skinned. Um, I discover them at Wal-Mart, Walgreens..and that’s just about it.
CONS- The product has SPF and i also am VERY allergic to sun block thus it broke me out something terrible. Form of difficult to find. It’s a tad bit more expensive than the previous products mentioned. MMM, I would say about 10.99 and up. You could possibly believe it is available for sale. Also, there may be not a whole lot in the bottle, so use sparingly whenever you can. Other shades to try…. Soft Sable and Cocoa.
7- Revlon Color Stay Makeup with Soft Flex – Mahogany
PROS- Pretty readily accessible generally in most drugstores. Colors are perfect for brown-skinned girls. Form of affordable. A little bit in the high end but about 9.99-12.99 just for this product. The policy is okay… Not the best, but should you be looking for light to moderate coverage this is an excellent product.
CONS- Now, I stumbled upon that Mahogany failed to match my undertones that great. I realize…. Again together with the undertones. It dried and made my skin look a little bit grayish and chalky. There is 58deyypky a real good selection from which to choose for darker skin tones. Has SPF6, bad for me, but good for anybody who is not allergic. Also, again, in the event you don’t have the undertone problem…. Other shades to test… Cappuccino and Mocha.
And then finally but Not necessarily least…
8- Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse – Cocoa (Dark 3)
PROS- OH MY GOSH…… loving the product!! (sing song voice) here is the current form I am just using now! It def does what the commercial says. It covers your pores, and offers that you simply great finish! Maximum coverage! Need NO concealer, well… maybe somewhat, but I don’t use any. It is quite affordable, between about 7-10 bucks. I found it right in the Kroger food market, so it must be available at most pharmacies. It possesses a nifty little nozzle that squirts out and it’s really convenient. It is also whipped feeling, and so i apply with my fingers.
It merely glides right on, and begins covering all my pores and brown spots, along with its not too heavy, I don’t have to wear a bunch. The best also comes off, in case I over-squirt, I could place it right back into the bottle. There’s lots in the bottle, and you don’t need to use a great deal for coverage. I feel I got this bottle a month ago and so i continue to have a bit more than half a bottle left. It’s great! I like it. Hopefully this is the end of your road for me, but usually it isn’t!
